James J. Hunt

James was the beloved husband of Kathleen Hunt. He was a devoted father to his children, James Hunt (Jennifer), Keith Hunt (Kirsten), and Brian Hunt (Sue). James took great joy in being a cherished grandpa to his grandchildren: Keith, Samantha, James, Andrew, Ethan, and Abigail. He was also a loving brother to his late sibling, Harry Hunt (Babeth).

Throughout his life, James had a deep passion for fishing, particularly sport fishing, and he proudly kept his boat at Montauk, Long Island, NY. He was an avid collector of duck memorabilia and enjoyed woodworking, with a special talent for carving ducks. James had a fondness for the music of the 1950s and 1960s, especially doo-wop, which he cherished throughout his life.

A visitation for James will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. A service in his honor will be conducted on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Liberty Avenue, Port Jefferson, NY 11777.

James will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to his family, and his passion for the simple joys of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
