On May 22, 2018, after a short illness, Frances R. Chapman entered the arms of the Lord and her loving husband Joseph, who passed away in 2005. Frances was preceded in death by her parents Catherine Curaj and John Srnka, siblings Mary Miller, Helen Abbott, Ann, Paul, John, Anthony, Francis, and Alfred as well. Also predeceasing her were many sisters and brothers-in-law, as well as a niece and nephews.
Frances is survived by daughters Karen (Stan) Ling and Kathleen (Michael) Kelly. Frances was a life-long resident of Binghamton, graduating from Binghamton Central High School in 1942. After their marriage, Frances was a dedicated wife and mother, as well as bookkeeper for Joseph’s service station business. She then spent several years working at Endicott Coil. Winters in Florida followed. Many hours were spent crafting and Frances and Joseph enjoyed many years of bowling. Frances was also an accomplished seamstress, having created numerous bridal, attendant, and prom gowns. But Frances’s greatest pride was in her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. Frances will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at the Pavilion at Vestal Park where Frances lived for the past two years. A special thank you goes out to Gabby and Elena who extended loving compassion toward Frances’s care.
