Woon Yin Wong 黃劉煥賢, also known as Suzie, lived a long and fulfilling life, passing away at the age of 93. She was a blessing to each of her 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Faithful, generous, resilient and mischievous are just four out of a million words that can describe Woon Yin.
She was a woman of faith. Her faithfulness was evident by her endless devotion to prayer, scripture and journaling. Anyone that knew her was undoubtedly touched by her faith and devotion to God. She was generous. Generous with her time, she loved to serve her family. She made amazing food for any occasion. She loved to give gifts – sometimes a few dollars snuck into her grandchildren’s pockets or random items, like jewelry, that made you question if she had a side business selling knock off products. She was resilient. Despite health complications from her pregnancy, it didn’t prevent her from continuing to pour out love, service, wisdom, and time to her family. She did her best to be present with family, travelling and camping with them. And she still continued to enjoy all the little things in life – like diabetes-causing coffee from Tim Hortons. She was mischievous – often at the expense of grandpa’s sanity. Many of her antics manifested at the mall. From hiding in clothing racks, to wandering away and making grandpa walk everywhere to find her, her playfulness and unfiltered comments were always a source of humour and joy for her grandchildren.
Woon Yin was a loving mother, a hero grandmother and an inspirational great grandmother. She leaves behind beautiful memories and a legacy that will keep us partially satisfied until we meet her again in heaven. Woon Yin Wong’s celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 at 1:00pm at Westwood Alliance Church 3129 Ozada Ave, Coquitlam.
