Joseph Dane Mastromarino

He was the son of Ruby Taylor and Joseph Mastromarino and was born in Lynn, Mass. He leaves behind his caring wife of 50 years, Ursula (Stiebel), his loving daughters from a previous marriage Diane and Luc Collin and Dale Mastromarino, one grandson Dana and Kim Mastromarino and two great grandchildren, Zack and Cara Mastromarino. Joe was pre-deceased by his sisters Alice and Rita, and brother Bernard.

During World War II Joe volunteered to serve in the Coast Guard in the boiler room on a troop transport ship in the Pacific from March 14, 1945 to May 18, 1946. During the Reserve he switched over to the Navy and studied medicine. He was recalled during the Korean War and served as a medic from 11 Sept 1950 to 17 Sept 1951.

Joe was a member of the Masonic Friendship Lodge No 33 in Southington, Ct for well over 50 years. Although not active he wanted to maintain his membership because he believed in their cause and he lived his life that way.

When Joe was very young he worked many different jobs including at nighttime in factories. But his career was with Pratt & Whitney in the overhaul and repair division. After working at every station he was promoted to foreman for the night shift. After many years he retired early because of a serious heart condition.

Traveling and seeing the world is what he liked to do best, but he never forgot how to work or help others who needed help. He was always there. He never had a harsh word, was always cheerful and positive. The world was a better place with him in it. Joe is greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers the family would be grateful for a donation to Tidewell Hospice.

A visitation for Joseph will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. A funeral service will occur Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Homes & Cremation Services.
