Wilson J. Weber, Jr., age 93 of Groves, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Wilson, a native of Morgan City, Louisiana, was a retired Mechanical Engineer, former Army medic during the Korean War, and a parishioner of Immaculate Conception-St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Parish in Groves.
Wilson was devoted to God and his family. He was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Parish and served in various ministries. He hand crafted multiple items that are still in use for the church today.
He was always active performing woodworking, carpentry, lawn care, and multiple home, beach, and family lake house tasks. He served as a driving force in planning and hosting the Annual Weber Family Reunion. He cherished and valued the family and instilled this in his children and grandchildren.
Wilson, or “Boug" as he was called by family and friends, loved to boil crabs and crawfish, barbeque, and cook gumbo, as well as other tasty items. There were many fun times at the family lake house and beach house. We all loved Paw Paw Boug and can attest to the fact he and his loving wife, JoAnn or “Granny Jo”, made everyone’s life that they came into contact with more special and meaningful.
Paw Paw Boug was the type of grandfather who was always there, coming to school events, recitals, birthday parties, sporting events, weddings, and more. His family doesn’t ever remember him missing a special event.
Wilson was committed to becoming a Mechanical Engineer while working fulltime as a machinist at Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur and raising a family. He stayed on his degree for eight years and became the first college graduate in his family at age 33. He did all this while being a devoted husband and father of four. He instilled the importance of hard work in his children and grandchildren.
Wilson was the perfect example of a dedicated and loving, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a role model to many, as he was strong, hardworking, and a caring Christian man.
Wilson was preceded in death by his parents Wilson J (Ella) Weber Sr., his loving wife JoAnn, and brother James (Glora) Weber.
Survivors include his children and their spouses - Tim (Pam) Weber, Wilson (Andi) Weber III, Rhonda (Mark) Walker, and Karen (Damon) Judice. Wilson also has a sister, Lou Thomas and brother Pat (Faye) Weber. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
