Marion Jane Spaulding was born on April 26, 1930, in Hodge, Louisiana to Avis Moore Spaulding and Frederick Spaulding. She had lived in the Port Arthur and Groves area for fifty-eight years and was a member of the Catholic faith; she was also a secretary for her son Dr. Robert F. Pickard, Jr. D.D.S. in Port Arthur. Marion loved to play golf and go gambling at Delta Downs but mostly she loved her family especially her grandchildren who loved her dearly.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Dr. Robert Franklin Pickard of Groves; sons, Dr. Robert F. Pickard, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Nederland, Dr. William Pickard and his wife Carmen of Nederland and Mike Pickard and his wife Kelly of Groves; brother, Freddie Spaulding and his wife Lorella of Port Neches; grandchildren, Dr. Lance Pickard, Brenna Pickard, Katie Pickard Bond, Will Pickard and Angela Pickard; special niece, Madeline Stewart and her husband Carol of Nederland.
A Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010, at St. Theresa of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Port Acres. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted immediately after the Rosary with Father Rejimon E. George serving as the Celebrant. Cremation will take place at Haven of Rest Crematory in Bridge City, Texas at a later date.
