Cop Thi Tran, 89, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Cop was born in Vietnam on the 20th of July. Ms. Tran was employed with Port Arthur Independent School District and retired after 20 years of service. She was a Devout Catholic and a member of Queen of Vietnam Catholic Church in Port Arthur. She had a funny personality and loved to play jokes on people. Ms. Tran was a hardworking woman and for her, it was all work and no talking until the job was complete. She dedicated her time helping others by providing them with transportation to and from church and doctor’s appointments. Ms. Tran had a funny personality, was young at heart and had wonderful spirit. She loved to play jokes on people and give lots of hugs and kisses. Young or old, she also enjoyed pinching and squeezing your cheeks. She was an extraordinary woman, mom, grandma and great-grandma and will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Ms. Tran was preceded in death by her parents, Vinh Tran and Lua Thi Tran; husband, Binh Tran; son, Thinh Tran; four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children, Richard Hieu Tran (Thuy Tran), Anthony Trieu Tran (Phong Tran), Becky Nu Tran (Ron Ruan Nguyen), Ngat Tran (Peter Chung Nguyen) and Brenna Tuoi Tran (Dung Tran); one brother, Khai Dao. Ms. Tran also leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren to cherish her memories.
Visitation for Ms. Cop Thi Tran will be held Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Friday, November 11, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Queen of Vietnam Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
