Arthur Carl Lynd, Sr., 87, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Monday, May 11, 2015. Mr. Lynd was born October 12, 1927 and was a Native of Port Arthur and was a World War II Army Veteran. He retired from Texaco after 38 years of service as a Leaderman-Special in Product Control Laboratory. Arthur was a member of Union OCAW for 40 years, and First Baptist Church of Port Arthur. Arthur enjoyed fishing, music, song writing, poetry, and dancing. He received several Gold and Silver awards for “Who’s Who” in Poetry and his poems were also published in two Books of Poetry.
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Barney Lynd and Eunice Stout Lynd; and special friend, Ms. Viola Broussard. He is survived by sons, Art C. Lynd, Jr., and wife Annette, and Gregory Lynd and his girlfriend Ruth Hoyle; daughter, Carol Mathews and husband Gary; brothers, James Lynd and wife Ruby, Pete Lynd and wife Shirley, Bernard Lynd, and Dan Lynd; sisters, Eunice Walden, Dorothy Roddam, Patricia Bell, Daisy Taylor and husband Fred. Grandchildren include, Beau Lynd, Jessica Lynd Barros, Jason Rollinson, Eric Rollinson, David Rollinson, Michael Rollinson, Bryce Lynd, and Blake Lynd. Mr. Lynd also leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren to cherish his memories.
The family of Mr. Lynd would like to give a special thank you to Kelly, Carrie, and Warren with Altus Hospice and the Memory Care staff of Cypress Glen for the great care they gave their father.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Faith Baptist Temple; 1011 Bowlin Ave., Port Neches, Texas 77651. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
