Sadly, A LEGEND DIED; Rod Sandulak passed on March 12, 2018; Rod was 57 yrs old. Rod parents Mervin & Alice Sandulak; his two daughters Tamera (Cody) and Natasha (Aguila). Rod was born as an identical twin (Bernie) to the parents of Mervin & Alice Sandulak in Comox BC. Rod had three brothers, Bernie, Kenny, Donnie and two sisters, Debbie & Beverly; he grew up on a small farm close to the old headquarters town near the Tsolum River in Merville BC. He went to school at Tsolum Elementry, then Courtenay Junior, and then Vanier Senior High. Almost to the day when he graduated from Vanier Senior in 1979, Rod’s 69 Custom Chevy Van packed and he moved to Port Hardy to find work AND FISH – and there was LOTS of fish stories to tell; In Port Hardy, it was not long before starting at BHP Minerals Utau mines where he worked for 18yrs); Also, while in Port Hardy, he became the proud father of two daughters (Natasha and Tamera Sandulak (Monica Unseld their mother). Rod also lived (owned a home) and worked (and fished) in Thasis BC; Rod then settled in Port Alberni where I bought a home (fished) and worked for Alberni Pacific Division (Western Forest Products) for 18 years. Rod had many many friends whom he help helped out in many ways. He was the hardest worker we have ever known; and he had 100 projects on the go; he could be smoking fish, making sausage, working on his dream shop, doing yard work, cutting fire wood, he was the BEST friend and HERO, a great fisherman and incredible hunter
