With the deepest sadness, our family shares the peaceful passing of Mick Chappell.
Mick is predeceased by his parents, Lee Alfred and Ada Chappell and brother, Dale Chappell. He is survived by the love of his life of 44 years, Colleen, daughters, Debbie Dickenson and Jeanette Eggers of Edmonton, AB, stepdaughters Connie Marocchi (Don) of Port Alberni, Sue Zazuliak of Victoria and stepson Garry Zazuliak (Min) of Parksville, grandchildren Rheyna Ash (Art), Keith Eggers, Jay Eggers (Angie), Cori Dickenson (Ian), Paul Zemanek (Candice), Derek Zemanek (Kirsten), Jenna Duquette (Alex), great grandchildren Kaya and Shaye Ash, Zac and Roman Stieb, Jace and Gavin Zemanek and Ilona Zemanek, siblings Yvonne Pennington (Florida), Sandra Gallagher (Arkansas), Ron Chappell (Fraser Lake), Daryl Chappell (California) and David Chappell (Arkansas) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, grandpets Bella and Willow.
Born in Fortuna California, Mick was raised in Chico, California and lived in several of the United States before he permanently relocated to Canada in 1972. He eventually settled in Port Alberni in 1979 where he began working as a Millwright at Alberni Pacific Division until his retirement in 2001.
Mick loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. He loved camping and 4x4ing but above all else, he loved his family.
A special thank you to the VIHA Palliative Care Team, Dr Kristine Woodley, and the incredible staff of Ty Watson House for all you’ve done to make Mick’s final days comfortable and helping to ease our pain.
We will love and miss you forever, Mick.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Ty Watson House in Mick’s name, if you wish.
A celebration of life to follow at a later date.
