Hugh Carlisle Anderson

June 3, 1943 - December 13, 2024

Born in Nelson, Hugh passed away in Port Alberni after a short, but well fought, battle with cancer.

Hugh spent most of his life in Port Alberni. He started working in the bush in his midteens, first planting trees and eventually started driving logging trucks. He was pretty much self taught. Through the years, he had log hauling companies ending with HC Contracting Inc which did yarding, loading and hauling, both highway and off highway. His passion was hauling logs with his Hayes off- highway and highway trucks. He was Hayes man.

Hugh was predeceased by his parents; his eldest daughter, Annette; grandson, Kyle; granddaughter, Krista; step-son, Darcy and five siblings.

He is survived by his very loving wife of 40 years, Vera; children, Barb (Jeff), Willie (Sue), and Brenda (Johnny); stepchildren, Dale, Robert (Lisa), Diana and Jamey; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and seven step grandchildren; siblings, Ted Anderson, Hazel Salisbury, Elsie Stevens, Cheryl, Sharon, Vickie Peter; brother in law, Gordon Hulford; sister in law, Elaine Hulford, and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Hugh’s honour on Sunday December 22, 2024 at the Beaver Creek Hall on Beaver Creek Road from 11 am to 3 pm. Cremation will follow.
