While it is with heavy hearts we announce her passing, we celebrate the joy she brought to our lives.
Donna was dedicated to Port Alberni. She spent 10 years on the School Board and 9 years as a City Councilor. She chaired the Alberni Clayoquot Regional Board and served on the North Island College Board as well as many, many other committees. Donna was honoured to be a Freeman of the City - the highest award a city can bestow. Her accomplishments are many but she particularly enjoyed her work with the Port Alberni Professional Firefighters and the RCMP, culminating with her involvement with the building of the new detachment. She was known for her quick wit and sense of humour as well as her love for her community. If someone reached out to her, Donna would be more than happy to help in any way she could. Donna loved her coffee and her politics ~ We often thought it was in her DNA.
She was predeceased by her parents Marion and John Bebluk.
Survived by husband Gary (married 55 years); daughter Stacey (Brent) Manson and son Jon (Tisha) Brett; sister Darlene (Larry) Reynolds and brother Bob (Norma) Bebluk. Donna often bragged about her grandchildren, Jay and Roxy Manson, Tyler and Casey Brett and many nieces and nephews. She loved her family and was so proud of them.
Thank you to her devoted friends including: Theresa, Nita, Dani, Heather, Lynn, Pat, Dannette, Alison, Bernadette and Jeannette. Special thanks to nurses: Marnie, Randi, Cindy, Tess, Lorraine and others that cared for Donna so lovingly at West Coast General Hospital. Huge appreciation to Drs. Wijay, De Pape, Du Plessis, Meyer, Johnson and Woodley.
Donna would want you to tell your grandchildren often that you love them, have a good cup of coffee and make our community a better place.
There will be no formal services according to Donna's wishes.
