Born in Saskatchewan Andy came to Port Alberni to visit his brother in the late 1950's when he was 16 years old. He took a job at the bowling alley, worked a short time at Mercer Motors and then worked at the Somass Mill until his retirement. He really enjoyed working in the Dry Kilns at the Mill. When not working, he enjoyed traveling to Arizona for the winters, and was a member of numerous hiking groups. He was involved in floor curling and ice curling and spent many hours at his cabin in the Barclay Sound. As a handyman, over the years Andy built many houses. During his younger years he coached baseball teams when his children were involved and was always busy using his tractor around the family acreage.
Dad always said "Until we meet again."
