Mr. Manuel was born January 29, 1923 in Pass Christian, Mississippi to George Manuel, Sr. and Cora McKay Manuel. George was a retired instrumentation electrician & technician with Ingalls Shipyard, Stennis Space Center, and several other companies in the area. He was a honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, serving in both World War, II and the Korean War. George was a member of the American Legion Post 58. He proudly served as a Firefighter and President of Post 58 Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Eva E. Manuel; one stepdaughter, Colleen Faye Cuevas; five siblings, Nick Manuel, Donald Manuel, Robert Manuel, Inez Bobinger, Kathleen Lozes; four grandchildren, Doyle Cuevas, Amanda Ladner, Kendall Ladner, Pamela Lyons; and one great grandson, Christopher Cuevas, Jr.
Family members include eight children, Judith Ann (the late D.J.) Cuevas, Myra (E.J.) Ladner, James (Debbie) Manuel, Cynthia (the late Smiley) Callender, Amy (Larry) Flynt, Lorraine (Earl) French, William (Darlene Mcilwain) Manuel, Mark (Bridget) Manuel; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Services will be held at White Funeral Home (315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, MS, 39470) on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11:00 am. Rev. Ray Lee will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Standard - Sand Hill Cemetery in the Standard Community. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home.
It is requested that guests observe current social distancing guidelines at the funeral home and to wear a mask.
