Alvin Eugene Sheasby of Carriere, Mississippi passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the age of 84. Alvin was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 10, 1939, to Elbert and Myrtle Sheasby. He grew up in the Greater New Orleans area before joining the United States Air Force. After his Air Force service, Alvin worked at the Michoud Assembly Facility during the time of the Apollo program. He was a purchaser for several New Orleans-based defense and commercial companies, including Textron Marine Systems. Alvin retired in 2001 and enjoyed a quiet life in Louisiana, Arkansas and finally Mississippi.
Alvin was active in the local dance communities, mostly recreational, while also participating in a few competitive dances.
Alvin played contract bridge for most of his life. He always found opportunities to play no matter the location. During the last few years, you could find Alvin playing at the American Contract Bridge League in Slidell.
Alvin was also an avid New Orleans Saints fan and went to numerous games with his family, going all the way back to the Tulane Stadium days. He was also a fan of the Tulane Green Wave, attending games when family was in town.
Alvin was a loving son, husband and father. He cared deeply for his family and loved spending time with them. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Myrtle Sheasby; stepmother, Nellie Sheasby, his first wife, Ruby Katherine Sheasby, and stepson Stanley Raichel.
Left to forever cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Lela Gail Sheasby; his son Steven Michael Sheasby, daughter Katherine Ann “Kitty” Trusty (James White); stepsons Damian Lambert, Randall Bealer (Tiffany), Bryan Bealer (Shari), Jeffrey Bealer (Kasey), stepdaughters Francis “Cookie” Talerico and Suzie Elliott; his grandchildren, Victoria Reese, Nicole Trusty, Rebecca Trusty, Randy Talerico, Terry Talerico, Tina Iquinto, Jamie Talerico, Melonie Kemp, Michael Raichel, Mark LaBarge, Eric LaBarge, Joshua Borrow, Jarrett Bealer, Tristan Plaisance, Tucker Plaisance, Gabrielle Chiasson, Katelyn Bealer, Chad Bealer, Cole Bealer, Woodrow Bealer and Ruby Bealer; his great grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Zachary, Anna Rose, Giatta, Ava, Jackson and Reid; and his sister, Carol Myrtle Sheasby.
