Johnny Seale, age 75, passed away June 2, 2016 at NMMC in Tupelo, MS. Johnny was the son of Dupree and Mary Edna Roye Seale and a lifelong resident of Pontotoc, Mississippi. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church.
Johnny was a lineman and General Forman for Pontotoc Electric Power Association for 42 years. He knew the electrical system like the palm of his hand because he helped build and rebuild much of it. He helped to train many young linemen to safely work the “hot” power lines. He was always there heading the restoration of power at every storm during his time at PEPA.
Johnny was a 1960 graduate of Pontotoc High School and was the three spot star athlete. He was a member of the undefeated 1960 Pontotoc Warrior Football team.
Johnny was a community minded individual and served as Alderman for the City of Pontotoc. He prided himself in his part to help Mayor Howard Stafford in the quest to improve Pontotoc and provide places of employment for her citizens. He was a businessman who owned and managed several small businesses in Pontotoc.
Johnny loved Pulling Horses and traveled the Southeastern United States with his championship teams competing in many large arenas. He kept his horses and pulled them for fun as long as he was physically able.
Johnny’s biggest asset to Pontotoc and Pontotoc people was his generosity. He always had a pocket full of money and didn’t hesitate to pull it out and share it with people in need. He was always willing to help and provide funds for any worthwhile endeavor.
The 2001 tornado in Pontotoc was tragic for Pontotoc and especially the Seale family with the loss of their son Michael and Johnny’s sister Betty and nephew Donnie. Johnny’s strength, faith in God and love of his family and friends brought them through.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Hembree Seale, his daughter, Tina Seale Kollmeyer and her husband Will and grandson Collin Michael Kollmeyer of Tupelo and a brother James Riley Seale of Pontotoc and a sister-in-law: Nancy Reese and family of Rome, GA.
