Peggy (Adams) Schlictman, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 11, 2022, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida following an extended illness. The daughter of Ben and Mildred (Stone) Adams, Peggy was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and grew up on the family farm. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She took her first teaching job in Ft. Lauderdale, and there met Fred Schlictman. They were married in 1958.
Peggy was first and foremost devoted to her Lord and to her family. She committed wholeheartedly to raising her children, Amy and Tom. She was then overjoyed to have grandchildren. She loved to visit them and have them visit her. Favorite activities with “the kids” included sightseeing, going to the beach, playing games, reading, and most especially, laughing a lot. They were the light of her life, and she was happiest when they were around.
Peggy was an avid tennis player and made many friends on and off the court. She loved to meet people, and for years, she had a special circle of her walking friends, rising before dawn to walk and chat along the beachfront streets and then chat some more with a bagel or just a cup of coffee.
Peggy was a committed and faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a long-time member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. While her later years were filled with health battles and obstacles, her family remembers her most fondly for her devotion to family and her strong Christian faith. Though she leaves a hole in our lives, we take comfort in knowing that she is happy, healed and at peace.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Fred (in 2002). Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Vincent) Owoc of Cooper City, FL; son, Tom Schlictman (Marilyn Bevier) of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Taylor Owoc of Cooper City, FL, Kaylee Owoc of Tampa, FL, Zachary Owoc of Orlando, FL, Mike Schlictman (Michelle Ronay) of Chicago, IL, Emily Schlictman of Bloomington, IN; and great grandchild Jack Ronay-Schlictman of Chicago, IL.
A memorial service will be on Thursday, November 17th at 10:00 am at the Kraeer Funeral Home (200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL) in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a GoFundMe account established in memory of Peggy (gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-peggy-schlictman).
