Joseph Theismann was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Joe will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of Joseph and Eva Theismann. Joe grew up in Summerset, New Jersey. Joe was raised with two siblings.
Empathic and loyal, Joe was committed to making his new family happy. He was also known for his smile and his friendliness to everyone, his positive attitude and energy to life and to the people. Nothing was an issue, there were never any problems.
Joe was married to Olga Tobias on November 29, 1942, and they were married for 67 years. He took care of her for 3 years prior to her death at the age of 92.
Joe worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Joe was blessed with two children, Joseph Robert Theismann, Patricia Theismann Chorowiec. Another blessing for Joseph was the gift of six grandchildren Joseph, Amy, Patrick, Corey, Carrie, Kyle and six great-grandchildren, Karissa, Kayden, Kali, Kyra, Deklan, Kannan.
Joe was an Army veteran. Through his hard work, he achieved the rank of private first class of the 264th infantry regt. He received several awards recognizing him for his service, including a good conduct medal.
Joe made his living as a mechanic and owning his own gas station. He finished up his work years as a liquor salesman for a family owned business.
Joe enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were golf and bowling. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Joe found pleasure in sports. Recreational sports included soccer. Joe was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were football, golf and bowling.
Throughout his life, Joe was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Throughout his later years, Joe was an active member of the Elk Club, The Meadows of Crystal Lake Travel Club , Grievance Community, and the board of The Meadows of Crystal Lake.
When Joe’s retirement finally arrived in 1979, at the age of 59, he was well prepared. His new life involved relocating to the Meadows of Crystal Lake, Deerfield Beach, Florida, so he could do what he loved most, golf. Even in retirement, Joe continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Joe was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him.
Joe passed away on September 5, 2011 He was a "Pillar of Society" and will leave his mark to all those who knew him. He is survived by children Joseph and Patricia and his grandchildren Joseph, Amy, Patrick, Corey, Carrie, Kyle and great-grandchildren, Karissa, Kayden, Kali, Kyra, Deklan, Kannan. Services were held at Meadows of Crystal Lake.
Simply stated, Joe was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Joe leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Joe Theismann.
