Gordon William Horton, 83, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, entered into his eternal heavenly home on June 6, 2022 as a result of cardiac complications. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all.
Gordon was a Veteran and served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic. He served overseas and one of the most enjoyable times of his life was his time spent in Morocco (North Africa).
After honorably completing his 4-year term in the United States Air Force, he went on to excel in the automotive industry. Through his tireless work and dedication, he earned the title of Sales Manger at Gary Fronrath of Fort Lauderdale, where he spent the better part of 30 years serving the community.
Gordon’s work ethic was unmatched. He continued working until the age of 82. Gordon’s skill set was beyond measure and he was considered a Jack of all trades.
In his spare time, Gordon enjoyed spending time on the water, watching sports, and spending time with his family.
Gordon is survived by his beautiful wife of 62 years, Garnett Horton. She was the center of his universe. Together, they had two children whom he adored, Vickie Hall (Jeff Hall), and Todd Horton. He was a proud Papa to 5 grandchildren, Sean Pack, Darrin Pack (Angela Zauner) Cory Pack (Lara Pack), Ryan Pack, and Kathryn Pack (06-15-2001). We rejoice in Kathryn welcoming him with open arms to his eternal heavenly home. Gordon was also blessed to spend time with the fourth generation including several great-grandchildren who brought great joy to his life.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, John and Carolyn Horton, his brother Billy Joe Horton, his granddaughter Kathryn Pack, as well as many other beloved relatives.
Some “Words to live by” that Gordon has passed down throughout the years are:
“Always do the right thing, no matter how hard it might be.”
“Love each other. Forgive. As you never know when it will be your loved one’s last day here on Earth.”
“Steer clear of drama. Don’t ever have too many chefs in the kitchen adding their ingredients to the soup, which can mess up an entire recipe.”
The family of Gordon Horton wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Cindy Dennis whom Gordon considered a bonus daughter, whom he loved as his own. A heartfelt thank you to Angela Zauner, who spent the last couple of years hand in hand with Gordon. Not only did he consider her a granddaughter, but they were also best friends.
To know Gordon was to know unconditional love. His cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
