Anthony “Tony” Joseph Minotti Sr., 93, formerly of Trumbull, Connecticut, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at his home in Lighthouse Point, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Anthony Sr., the family patriarch will be greatly missed. He is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Jane Vivian DeBiase Minotti; three sons, Anthony Joseph “AJ” (Jennie) Minotti Jr. of Indialantic, FL; Kenneth John (Cathleen) Minotti of Deerfield Beach, FL; and Stephen John Minotti of Deerfield Beach, FL; daughter, Linda Marie Minotti (Thomas Romeo) of Lighthouse Point, FL; his sister, Mary Ann Minotti (Leonard) Albanese; sisters-in-law, Gloria DeBiase, Carol Coasin DeBiase and Francis DeBiase; five grandchildren, Alison Theresa Minotti (fiancé Christopher Eastwood), James Anthony (Ludmila) Minotti, Angela Grace Minotti (Eric) Franke, Ashley Nicole Minotti (Joshua) Lyles and Anthony Joseph Minotti III; two great grandchildren, Audrey Jade Franke and Stella Minotti; seven nieces and ten nephews. He is preceded in death by brothers, Charles (Lillian) Minotti, Gabriel “Gabe” (Dorothy) Minotti Sr. and Michael (Irene) Minotti; brothers-in-law, Edward DeBiase and Guido DeBiase, his daughter, Mary Jane Minotti Ashby, two nephews and a niece.
Anthony was born on September 22, 1928, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Michael T. Minotti and Grace Pilgosti Minotti. Just out of high school, Tony saw it his duty to join the service where he spent four years in active duty in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Seattle, Washington, and served on the USS Biloxi and USS Bunker Hill. He was Honorably Discharged in 1949 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. After his discharge Anthony followed in his father’s footsteps in the Masonry trade. With his twin brother, Gabe, they started the Minotti Construction Company and built religious, commercial and government buildings throughout Fairfield County including three apartment buildings for their retirement. Tony and Gabe received the “Builder of the Year” award in 1969 for their apartments. Their final project in Connecticut was Reed School. In 1970 he moved his family to Lighthouse Point, Florida, and continued to build single family homes and townhouses in the South Florida area. Their last building project was the 15-unit townhouses in Lighthouse Point, where he resided with his wife until his passing.
Anthony was a devoted family man, loving father, and a person of deep faith. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jane DeBiase, in Bridgeport, Connecticut on November 10, 1951, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, and the couple had five children together. Tony enjoyed boating, golfing, traveling by RV throughout the country, studying Italian, dancing, and jazz music. He also had a fascination with cars and the latest gadgets. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks (BPOE) and the Pompano Beach Power Squadron. Tony played the trumpet and passed on his great love of music to his children and grandchildren. Anthony’s greatest legacy and love was the family he left behind and those he will join in everlasting peace.
A memorial service/viewing is scheduled for September 16, 2022, at Kraeer Funeral Home from 5:00 -9:00 p.m. with the funeral mass and burial on September 17, 2022, 9:30 a.m. at Kraeer Funeral Home, Pompano Beach. For anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in his honor, the family suggests St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Vitas Healthcare.
