It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Gormley at the age of 58 at the Royal Victoria Hospital surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Leslie Plesko and cherished father of Taylor, son of the late James Angus and Aline Gormley (nee Beaulieu), son-in-law to Nina and Bill Plesko. Tom was preceded in death by his brothers James and Alan. He will be deeply missed by his brother David, and his sisters Joanne, Kathryn and Betty Gormley as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tom, born in Montreal, received his Bachelors degree from Concordia University in 1986 and went on to have a long and illustrious career in the wood flooring industry. He was a long standing member and board director of the National Wood Flooring Association and Concordia School of Business.
On August 5, 1989, he married the love of his life Leslie and together they raised their adoring daughter Taylor Alexandra.
Over Tom’s lifetime he participated in many sports and was a passionate Canadiens fan. Tom also loved to sing and most of all to have fun with his family and friends. Through his love of golf Tom became a member of the Beaconsfield Golf Club and played some of the world’s most renowned golf courses including Pebble Beach and St Andrews. As for music, Tom was rarely caught not humming a tune, and his singing voice was brought to life each week at The Crusters Jam sessions. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, hearty laugh and kind and compassionate spirit.
