Reginald Carter

He and his twin brother Arthur were born in Outremont, the sons of Margaret Sexton and John Patrick Carter, a lieutenant of the Outremont fire department. The family spent summers in Beaurepaire where his father had built a cottage.

Reg started working for the Canadian Marconi Company before the Second World War. During the war he enlisted in the Air Force and served in St. Thomas, Ontario, Truro, Nova Scotia, and Bagotteville, Quebec. In 1942 he married Frances Schneider, whom he had known since high school.

After the war Reg returned to Marconi where he worked until he retired in 1980. In 1952 Reg and Frances moved to Montreal-North where they raised six children. They both lived the rest of their lives in the same house in Montreal-North. Reg’s volunteer work for All Saints Mission and the diocese was recognized with the Bishop Ignace Bourget Diocesan Award of Merit in 1983.

In retirement Reg enjoyed golfing, carving, creating stained glass pieces, spending time with family, and playing cards as often as he could (cribbage and Frim). Thanks to everyone who spent time playing cards with him.

Reg was the last survivor of seven brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his wife Frances and his eldest daughter Leslie (Peter). He is survived by Linda (Barry), Brenda (Roger), Sheila, David, Andrew (Stephanie), his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
