My sincerest condolences to the entire family. 

Ms. Dias was one of those few teachers who inspire you to be the best version of yourself you can possibly be. And what more can you ask for in a teacher? She was fair, kind, and someone whose love of teaching extended far beyond the classroom's walls. She was always ready to help her students work through whatever troubles life may throw their way, especially those born outside the school.

She held us all to a higher standard, and for that I cannot thank her enough. To this day her teachings have stuck with me and continue to shape my work. I consider her a true role model and a person who positively defined a significant portion of my high school career.

You will be deeply missed Lisa, but never forgotten.

We were so sad to hear about Lisa’s passing. We have such fond memories of St. Thomas à Becket Day Camp.  Lisa was a great leader and continuous mentor for our girls, as well as all of the campers. Our girls started as little campers and then became counsellors, like so many others did. It was because of Lisa that camp became a place we could call home and it felt like we were all a big family.  Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

My deepest sympathies for your loss.
When I reflect back on my time at Loyola, Ms. Dias is always the first teacher to come to mind. While she stood out in the classroom, she also made herself available for extra help after-school to anyone who needed it. It was in this after-school setting that she truly distinguished herself. It did not matter if it was English, Ethics or History, she was always there to help. In my class alone, I know of several boys who succeeded only thanks to selfless work of Ms. Dias. My life would have taken an entirely different path, had it not been for the generosity, patience and support of Ms. Dias. I will continue to remember her fondly. 

Dear Nitin,
My deepest sympathies to you. I am  sorry that we could not have been with Lisa when she passed away .  You have had to deal with the treatments and the pain management and you have been such a wonderful and supportive husband to Lisa   .
I was  so shocked that Lisa passed so quickly. In November, my girls mentioned to me that this might be our last Christmas with Lisa and I thought they were wrong. 
When we saw Lisa after her long surgery, I was surprised that she was so energetic and  talking as though she did not just endure hours of surgery.  When we spoke to Lisa after the many complications, I was struck by how accepting she was of what was happening to her, and of how grateful she was to being able to get treatment so fast. Lisa seemed to believe she would  beat this cancer and believed that miracles could happen. I guess I believed it as well because when we were told she had hours to live, I was shocked and kept expecting them to be wrong.
Lisa did also mention that if she did not beat the cancer , then that was God's will. I was so impressed with Lisa's whole attitude  and her unwavering faith.  In the four months before her death, I learnt most about Lisa's strength and her faith. 
I cannot believe she is gone - I thought we would have many more opportunities to be together , but in the end, Lisa gave me the  opportunity to see  how short and precious life really is.
I will miss Lisa , but will keep her always in my prayers. Eternal rest grant unto Lisa, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

Ms. Dias exemplified the values of service to others and what it means to lead with humility, empathy, and passion. What I thought might be a dry class (ethics) very quickly became a favorite class because of her gentle way of pushing us all to become better thinkers, writers, and most importantly, human beings. Ms. Dias paired her gift of teaching with an incredible work ethic and dedication to each student with whom she crossed paths. Thank you for the legacy you have left on the Loyola community and my deepest condolences to the entire Dias family.

Dear Lisa,

I didn't get to thank you for the very great help you were to your mother, my sister, Edwina. You and Niten, your husband, were always there to help her in whatever way she needed.

You took her into your home during the Covid pandemic, where she remained, until being transferred to the hospital, where she passed. You are at peace now, although, we were all very shocked and saddened to hear of your passing. It was your wish not to let us know when your cancer was diagnosed. We respect that. We are sure you are in the presence of your mom, dad, brother, Mark, your 
grandparents and other family members who have passed. 

We have to learn to live with God's decision to take you. We think 
your great faith in God helped you bear your tremendous pain. He must have taken you, to spare you more of the same.

You will be sorely missed by all you have left behind. Give our love to all our family members who have passed. May your soul rest in peace and may your memory be a blessing.

Although I did not know Ms. Dias personally, I feel that I know a lot about her through my son who was part of the Loyola homework program during his high school years.  Whether in school or more recently during the pandemic, she was a huge motivator for him to do well.  I cannot tell you how often she helped him get through assignments or to overcome stressful periods at school.  She was a true blessing for our son and a credit to her profession!

I cannot begin to thank you for the impact you had on my son's life, and surely the lives of many other young men. Had you lived, many young women would have also owed you a debt of gratitude. May your memory be a blessing to those who knew you.

Although Jamie and I could not be there in person to wrap ourselves around Lisa and to show her how much we cared for her and wanted to comfort her, we tried the next best thing, which was to wrap her in some love and warmth that hopefully helped bring her some understanding of how much we wanted to support her through her journey.  Again - this smile just permeates through everything.

I will forever miss the opportunity of seeing this beautiful smile during their Florida vacations.  I absolutely have always treasured that both Lisa and Nitin (and Mark) would take the time to include me in their vacation plans by making that out of the way stop as they headed to the beach.  I have read many of the other posts and memorials for Lisa and they do such a great job of putting into words how Lisa's light touched so many people.  I am glad I was a small part of that light and was able to experience all of her warmth and joy.  I will forever be here for Nitin in hopes that I can comfort him and show him how grateful I am that both he and Lisa blessed me with their friendship.

My heartfelt sympathies to all of you, Lisa's family and friends. I have rarely known a more passionate woman or with a more intense and lively faith in Jesus Christ than Lisa Dias. During my 12 years as pastor at St. Thomas à Becket, Lisa was most loyal, supportive, kind, understanding, and loving; not afraid to challenge me and call forth my best intentions, efforts, and fraternal love. The servant leadership she brought to the Becket Summer Day Camp was inspiring and at times heroic in the face of many obstacles; dedicated to serving the children and help them know and love God, and to form the young people she hired as day camp counsellors. I have no doubt that Lisa brought the same faith, love, and passion to her students and all the people she encountered in life, and of course her family. Rest in peace, Dear Lisa, and as we pray for you, may you also pray for us, until that day when, by the glory of God, we may be reunited at the banquet table of the Wedding Feast of the Lamb in the Father's House! A passionate, enthusiastic, and energetic woman! I got to know Lisa when I returned to university for my English degrees as an older student and we studied together and became buddies even though we were generations apart in age. What a fantastic person who brought joy and energy into everything she did! I loved running into her in coffee shops where she often held court with other co-conspirators in her quest to make this a better world!

You never got to see the text message I sent you on the morning of December 24th, now more than ever, I wish you did. So I will write it here:

"Hi Lisa - you have been such a blessing to me and my family in the last couple of weeks. I just want to say thank you very much for being such a beacon in our lives. May God bless you beyond measure".

Now I will say:  You cared so much, you never even met me, yet you genuinely cared for me and my son. My heart is heavy as I process your loss. You really are such a precious gem. I will really really miss your support and your words of wisdom.  Lisa, May God guide you Home. 

Gone too soon. An amazing friend and colleague. Always so helpful, compassionate and understanding. Very intelligent with a wonderful sense of humour. I will miss you dearly. RIP. 

Grateful to have heard her lecture on The Great Gatsby.  Will not soon forget her love for the book and her passionate lectures.  Every student was caught up in Gatsby’s story.  A great teacher.

Miss Dias was unequivocally my favorite and most trusted teacher at Loyola. She demonstrated not only her unrivalled intelligence but also kindness in all interactions. I along with all her other students will never forget the time and effort she sacrificed to mould us into the men we are today and will be.

Truly devastating. I was fortunate enough to have Ms. Dias as a teacher, and I am grateful for the moments we have shared together. I’m sure most of her former students such as myself will remember Ozymandias and Beowulf as some great highlights from her class and from our overall high school experience. Her countless hours of helping students after school and constantly ensuring our success will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed, and I send my deepest condolences to her family and to the Loyola community. 

Ms. Dias could only be described as one of a kind, the most selfless and caring person I've come to know.  Countless hours of voluntary help towards students after school are one of the many things reflecting how incredible she was.  Ms. Dias had the ability to push those she knew beyond their limits, encouraging and guiding them while making them laugh along the way.  Her impact on the lives of so many is beyond comparison as her care for others extended so far beyond the classroom.  An amazing teacher but above all, the best friend one could ask for.  My deepest condolences. 







Miss Dias was a wonderful teacher who gave so much extra to the kids at Loyola.  I am forever grateful for the extra she gave my son during his 5 years at Loyola.  My son still talks about Miss Dias and how she taught him so much about writing essays.  He always felt cared for by her.

Ms Diaz taught me how to write and forever changed my life.

Our hearts are broken over the sudden loss of Miss Dias. She was so much more than an English teacher to our sons and all those lucky enough to know her. Her dedication to her students exemplified to the boys what it meant to live a life for others. She leaves an enormous hole at Loyola. Although she left us all much too soon, the example of her deep faith will guide our family as we grieve her death.  She teaches us still.  Our deepest condolences to her family. It is with great sadness that my sons and I learn of the passing of Ms. Dias. She was an extraordinary presence in their academic lives. She gave of her time when she wasn’t working to help them succeed. We will never forget her loving devotion to our family and to all Loyola students.

Our family is shocked and devastated. Lisa was  not only a great teacher, she was a mentor and a true friend to my boys . I am devastated at the loss of such an amazing human being. Ms. Dias was a driving force at Loyola. We were two of three Lisa’s in the same class for 5 yrs at QAA.  I still have fond memories of our time there.  Deepest condolences to her family and friends.  

I went to high school with Lisa, we were in the same graduating class. She was hilarious, always full of life, and she had a laugh you could hear a mile away! She was a huge fan of Ronald Reagan and I was not, so we had some great political discussions. I am so very sorry to hear of her passing - I send my deepest condolences to her family.

Our family is deeply saddened by Lisa’s passing. Lisa was such a beautiful person who cared deeply for her students. We were truly fortunate to have met her. Sending our heartfelt condolences to all her family and friends.

Lisa cared very much for her students and was a caring, thoughtful friend. I’ll always remember our passionate conversations around sports, family, and just “chilling” around in the Campus Ministry room or her classroom. Our hearts are collectively broken. I really thought she would be in our lives forever. She was without a doubt the kindest, most loving teacher who had the most impact on my boys lives while at Loyola and beyond. You cannot think of Loyola without thinking of Ms. Dias. Ms. Dias has a special place in my heart. She cared for students when they didn’t see their own worth, taking them under her wing and helping them develop academically, spiritually, and emotionally. She profoundly impacted my development as a person, and I am eternally grateful for the 5 years that I had the privilege of being her student. I will cherish the memories of her classes, the countless hours she gave to the homework program on weekdays and weekends and her advisor sessions with her students. She gave her heart and soul to Loyola and her students, and I always admired her deep faith. I offer my deepest condolences to the Dias Family and the Loyola High School Family during this difficult time, and remember that there are students like myself who have had the honor of having her as a teacher and mentor. She was truly a woman for others.
