Phyllis Edna Rawls passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023. Phyllis was born on March 18, 1923 in Whitham Friary, Somerset, Great Britain to Henry William Wheeler and Florence Elizabeth Jenkins Wheeler. Phyllis was one of seven children (five brothers and one sister) and was the longest living Wheeler family member living to the age of 100 years and nine months. Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Joe P. Rawls and their son, Rodney Joe Rawls, two daughters-in law, three grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is survived by her loving children, daughter, Marilyn (Phil), three sons; Richard, Steve (Linda), and Joey; ten grandchildren, many great and great great-grandchildren, and many, many other amazing friends and family.
Phyllis married her love, Joe P. Rawls in 1946 while Joe was serving in England during World War II. She came to the United States from England in March of 1946 on the Queen Mary settling initially in Plant City, Florida. Phyllis was a devoted, loving Christian, Wife, Mama, Nana, Aunt, Sister, Cousin, and Friend. She traveled with Joe to many different locations while Joe served in the US Army to include Ft. Devens, Massachusetts, Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, Ft. Lewis Washington, and eventually settling in Plant City, Florida.
Her greatest pride, joy, and drive in life were her love of family and her unwavering love of God. She raised her children with love, kindness, devotion, and was a wonderful mother. Phyllis was an angel on earth to all and heaven has now received the best of earth’s angels. She will be greatly missed by all.
