Mary Elizabeth Blair Brown Gibbs, 94, of Plant City, FL passed peacefully on Feb. 6, 2016. Mary was born in Vanderbilt, PA on Jan. 17, 1922, the second youngest of 9 children of Sutton and Myrtle Blair.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Leslie Doepke (Chuck) of Plant City, FL; her son, Lee Brown (Frankie) of Papillion, NE; stepdaughters, Irene Urzendowski of Omaha, NE, Linda Beisner (Jack) of Wheaton, IL; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Lt. Col. Leslie A. Brown, Jr. (USAF Ret.) in 1962; her second husband, Roy W. Gibbs in 1995; her son, Larry Brown in 2009; and great granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Hulme in 2001; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters. Mary loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She was an avid walker, nature lover, birdwatcher and golfer who also enjoyed time at the beach and traveling the world. The family wishes to thank the staff at Elderberry ALF in Plant City for the loving care their mother received.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wells Memorial Funeral Home and Event Center in Plant City, FL. A Celebration of Mary's life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at GracePoint, 1107 Charlie Griffin Rd., Plant City, FL. Visitation at 10am and Celebration Service at 11am with Rev. Scott Lawry and Rev. Don Mason officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice, the Alzheimer's Foundation, SFBH, or Plant City Meals on Wheels in Mary's name.
