Clara, I can't believe that you are no longer with me.  You were my very best friend and we have so many wonderful memories together.  I'm so sorry I wasn't there when you passed.  My comfort lies in the times I was there for you when you needed me.  We had rough times back then, but we had joyous times as well.  We remained friends until the last.  I miss you so much. When I was in 5th grade I had a huge project due in art.. We had to make a macrame plant holder.  I was so stressed about it, because the last thing an 11 year old boy wants to do is make a macrame plant holder! But aunt Clara would come over to the house and over the course of a couple of weeks showed me how to macrame. Needless to say I had the best one in class. So whenever I think of aunt Clara, I think of sitting on the back porch doing macrame.

Aunt Clara would ride around with me for hours in my new car when I was 15, the only thing she would ask is for me to stop by the video store so she could rent her movies for the week.

I remember Aunt Clara's deep enriching alto voice as she sang "Swing low, sweet chariot..." in Grandma's kitchen.  She had a beautiful voice and was soooo talented with playing the piano as well.  I wish I could've heard her sing and play more.

Meemaw, I already miss you. Your smile and positive attitude was infectious. I reminisce on being young and always having sleepovers with you. I remember playing the piano and singing along to "you are so beautiful". I will never forget how kind hearted your soul was and all the special sentimental things you used to do to make me feel so special. Until I see you again.

Aunt Clara was a beautiful storyteller.  As a young girl, stories would come alive for me as she recited the books she read. Not only would she alter her voice for all the characters, her eyes would squint for the conflicts and twinkle for the romances.  I was just a little kid, but she made me her main audience.  I will forever remember her one-woman performances that were made just for me.

Growing up we all knew when Aunt Clara was at our door. She would give her signature seven note knock, "da dada daaa da - da da".  She would come over to play cards, tell stories and occasionally break out in song with her husky voice. 
 She also had a fondness for reading mystery crime novels.   Whenever she read one she thought I would like she would bring it over.  She introduced to many good authors. Ones I still read today.  ❤

So sorry to hear of Clara's passing.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

My sister Clara was mysterious & I think that is why she was such a young alluring beauty As a teen the boys were attracted & she didn't even have to try hard. She didn't even notice that she was getting their interest but I did. I couldn't understand this  Why couldn't other beauties do as well Now I think her mystery was her charm but sometimes she would be misunderstood cause her mysteriousness is still a mystery I believe Clara will not be forgotten Not by me Mary


In the our family my sister Clara was #3 & I was #4 Clara & I were closest in age & in the middle Naturally we had a lot in common  to make us the best playmates & the  worst sibling rivals
Underneath the Big Oak Tree in our front yard was black crusty sandy soil With nothing but a little stick  to draw with & our hand to erase we had the biggest blackboard  ever in the shade All of us children would watch afternoon cartoons like "Mighty Mouse" Aterwards Clara  & I  couldn't  wait  to get perfect little oak sticks & try to draw all the details of those cartoons That  Shady dirt was our personal black canvas
Throughout my life no matter where she & I were Clara is & still will be my creative collaborator Love you Clara #3 Glad you are free of pain & continue to inspire  Mary #4

I loved how Aunt Clara would play the the piano and sing so soulful and her love for art. I remember her beautiful pottery & her teaching me how to draw a beautiful star that looked complicated but was easy when taught step by step. It was a series of repeating those small steps & making them unique to ourselves. I remember associating it to our life at a young age & how achieving a beautiful dream of where you would like to be in life may seem overwhelming with all of the steps it takes to get there but staying consistent with all of the small steps will overtime produce that beautiful you/dream/goal. I appreciate Aunt Clara for teaching me such a great life lesson through her art.

I remember playing cards Aunt Clara. Everytime I saw her she would laugh and talk about how I had "no mercy" when we played cards. I also remember how much she loved doing arts and crafts and sharing them with others.

I remember how close we were in the 70's & 80's. She was so beautiful even with those huge rollers in her hair. I remember her making Shepherd pie, I had never heard of it. I will truly miss her, and wish I had stayed closer in contact with her.

Clara was my sister.  I have many happy memories and many unhappy ones too.  I choose to think about the happy ones.  I loved to hear Clara sing her favorite song "House of The Rising Sun".  I loved playing Phase 10 and other card games with Clara at our mother's house.  When we played cards our Mom "Omega" would always have some leftover food to share with us.  Clara loved mama's cornbread.
  Clara played the wedding march in my wedding 45 years ago,  I will miss Clara - I already do.  I love you Clara.
