Bob McVay of Plano, Texas, passed away on July 18th at the Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano from complications during surgery. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 24th at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home in east Plano at 2 p.m. Condolences can be sent to www.teddickeyfuneral.com.
Robert Boyd McVay was born on September 7, 1950 to Boyd and Frances (Frane) McVay in Council Bluffs Iowa. He graduated from High School in Nevada Iowa in 1968. On March 13, 1976 he was united in marriage in Marshalltown, Iowa to Cindy LePoire and had three children together. In Marshalltown he worked at Kapaun and Brown Heating and Air Conditioning for 15 years. In 1991 the family moved to Texas where he worked for Lennox Industries in Richardson for 18 years before retiring in 2010.
In his spare time he enjoyed camping and boating on the lakes in Iowa with friends and family. He loved water skiing, snowmobiling and flying his ultra-light airplane. He started collecting baseball cards and memorabilia which ended up taking over one whole room in the house! After moving to Texas he bought a Harley Davidson and enjoyed going on rides with friends and his oldest son who also had a Harley. Later on he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He always loved going back to Iowa for family reunions and seeing old friends.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Cindy, of 43 years. Their three children Erin McVay, Kevin McVay and Dustin McVay and three grandchildren, Devin, Cason and Terynn, all of Plano, Texas. He also has a son, Kyle Bolton, in Iowa. Two brothers - Gary (Mary) McVay of Prole Iowa and Mike McVay of State Center Iowa. Two sisters- Midge Berens of Huron South Dakota and Mary Ann (Danny) Rensch of State Center, Iowa. Also brother-in-laws, Mike Ramos and Mark Storjohann along with many nieces and nephews
In death he joins his parents along with three siblings, Greg McVay, Cindy Ramos and Tammy Storjohann.
