Richard “Dick” Griffith Hall went to be with his lord and savior on Wednesday night, July 15, 2020
He was born January 7, 1938 to Fred Harris Hall and Vonnie Mae (Griffith) Hall in Clarksburg, West Virgnia.
He married Eileen Valentine in 1970 and they were together until her passing in 2006.
Being tall and athletic, he went to Marshall University on a basketball scholarship. He was part of the Thundering Herd team that averaged 88 points per game in the 1957-58 season which was highest scoring team in the nation.
From Marshall he went to the Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1964 as a first lieutenant then went on to corporate America. He worked for International Harvester Credit Corporation for over 30 years in Pittsburgh, Lansing, Syracuse, New York City, Albany, Minneapolis and Dallas. In the early 90s he started a ten year stint with Keys Fitness.
He retired in the mid-2000s and, as a person who liked to keep physically active, discovered his love for golf. He was active in a group of golf buddies that called themselves The Dirty Dozen. In 2015 he moved into Pioneer Ridge senior living in McKinney. At Pioneer Ridge he made many friends and thrived as an ambassador to new guests and hosted a daily exercise class. There he also found many people to help him learn and grow in his Christian faith.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter Amy Sheahan and her husband Jim of Dallas, his son Rick Hall and his wife Mary of Frisco. Four grandkids; Parker Collins, Griffin Collins, Gannon Hall and Jensin Hall, and his sister Pam Shanklin and her husband Bill of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Eileen, his parents and his brother Jim.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots in honor of Dick.
A brief visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas, 75074.
A graveside service will follow, Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Plano Mutual Cemetery, where Dick will be laid to rest with his wife Eileen.
