Patricia was born September 24, 1941 in Knox County, Texas.
She is one of three daughters and one son born to Weldon and Edna LaDuke, all of whom worked on the family farm.
Upon graduation from Obrien High School, a class of thirteen, she attended Ranger College for two years and finished her education at Texas Tech in Lubbock.
She is survived by John, her husband of 55 years. Patricia married John Thomas Schmidt on September 25, 1959 at the First United Methodist Church in Post, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Thomas Schmidt, Jr. “Jack”, age 20 and is survived by her daughter, Lisa Schmidt of Hickory Creek, TX and son, Shannon Paul Schmidt and wife Kristie and their three children, Claire, Jennifer and John of Plano, Texas.
She is also survived by her sisters Kathleen Hayes and husband John of Amarillo and Diana Hines of Euless and her brother Edward LaDuke and wife Laverna of Denton.
Her favorite past time the last 14 years was been chasing after her grandchildren as well as walking with a group of friends at Collin Creek mall for over 15 years. She has been an avid Plano Wildcats Football Fan since 1976. She was a modern grandmother, if you please.
For the last year, she has been involved in an experimental study program at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas for her benefit and the benefit of future lung cancer patients. We would like to express our gratitude to Robert L. Kirby, M.D. of Texas Oncology Plano East and her multiple doctors and nurses at MD Anderson.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM at the Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, located at 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX 75252.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Custer Road United Methodist Church, located at 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75023.
