Mary was born on August 29, 1946 in Mansfield, Louisiana.
She married James Morris on December 27, 1966 in Mansfield, Louisiana. She is survived by her husband of 56 years: James Morris of Plano, Texas.
She is also survived by two daughters: Lisa (husband Ty) Phillips of Little Elm, Texas, and daughter Christan (husband Bryan) Hodges of McKinney, Texas.
Four grandchildren: Aaron Phillips-16, Eleanor Phillips-10, Jaxon Hodges-10, and Bowen Hodges-7.
One brother: Henry “Hank” Clark of Woodville, Texas.
Two sisters: Petty Clark of Houston, Texas, and Daisy Clark of Kuntze, Texas.
She is preceded in death by three children infancy: Michael James Morris, David Drayton Morris, and Rachel Diane Morris.
Mary attended elementary school in Port Arthur, Texas.
She attended high school Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas, graduating in the class of 1964.
After high school she studied at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.
She was a leader in her daughters’ Camp Fire groups and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time outdoors, often in her garden.
She was an accomplished artist and loved to paint in oils, watercolor and acrylics.
She loved education and reading, and taught science for many years at The Children’s Workshop in Plano, Texas.
Even after she retired, she often volunteered to help with summer camps.
She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Plano and a member of the Plano/Allen Ladies Auxiliary of the Gideons
Her favorite pastime was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street - Plano, Texas - 75074.
The funeral service for Mary will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Plano, located at 3665 West President George Bush Turnpike - Plano, Texas - 75075.
Dr. Craig Curry - Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Plano will officiate.
A burial service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Forest Park Cemetery West in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, Texas has charge of arrangements.
