George Slayden Jacobi

A Memorial Service & Celebration of George’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the West Plano Presbyterian Church, located at 2709 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75075.

Pastor David Batchelder will officiate.

Following the service, a reception will be held at the church in the Fellowship Hall.

George was born on January 13, 1929 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a son of his father: Godfrey Jacobi and his mother Mildred (Hunt) Jacobi.

He married Helen Virginia "Jinny"Jones on September 15, 1956 in Ferndale, Michigan. She preceded him in death on January 30, 1991. Helen is buried at Plano Mutual Cemetery in Plano, Texas where George will be laid to rest at a later date.

George attended middle school in Skokie, Illinois.

He attended high school in New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, graduating in 1947.

He attended the University of Michigan from 1947-1952.

George proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 - 1956.

George is survived by his four daughters: Susan Peterson of Highland Village, Texas, Carol (husband Peter) Flores of Carrollton, Texas, Julie (husband Robert) Colmery of Dallas, Texas and Nancy (partner Jeff Jennings) Jacobi of Colleyville, Texas.

Grandchildren: Daniel (wife Mary) Flores of Dallas, Texas, Sarah (fiancé Michelle Biittner) Flores of Dallas, Texas, Robert Colmery III of Dallas, Texas, and Raquel Colmery of Dallas, Texas.

He is also survived by one sister: Patricia Lowe of Cushing, Maine.

George is preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents, one brother Godfrey who died in infancy and one brother in law Robert Lowe who passed away March 6, 2022.

George enjoyed golf, a good martini, the Chicago sports, Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks. In his younger years he earned a scholarship to run track for the University of Michigan where he met his wife Jinny.

George was very active in his church the West Plano Presbyterian Church and he also took many mission trips over the years. He sponsored many confirmation classes within his church community.

George attended all of his grandchildren’s sporting and athletic events over the years. He also enjoyed reading about historical events, especially World War II, as well as mysteries.

He enjoyed collecting movies and collected the movies that won the best picture. George had two tickets to the Dallas summer musicals and enjoyed taking his daughters to dinner and the musical for years.

George was an outstanding father to his four daughters and an excellent grandfather who will be dearly missed.
