David had been a resident of Plano, TX for many years. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on November 20, 1956. His parents were Robert and Joyce Golden. The family moved to Ohio when David was 9 years old. Prior to David graduating from Canal Winchester High School in 1974, he played on the varsity basketball team, which took full advantage of his 6’5” height.
After graduation, David joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was trained in Microwave Equipment Operations, which prepared him to pursue a career in the Microwave telecommunications field after he completed his tour of duty. David attained the rank of Sargeant and received an Honorable Discharge in June of 1986.
He possessed a quick wit and could bring humor to most situations. He enjoyed ice fishing in Minnesota, helping friends when needed to mend fences on a ranch in ND, working on a friend’s farm in TX and participating in the chili cookoffs at the local Dallas VFW club.
David was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Joyce Golden and his brother Scott C. Golden. He is survived by three sisters; Connie Pierce of Boynton Beach, FL, Linda Coomer of Newark, OH, Bobbi Hill (Charles Hill) of Boynton Beach, FL and, sister-in-law Maria Golden of St. Augustine, FL and five nieces and four nephews. We take great comfort in knowing David is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was loved by everyone and a very good friend put it best when she said, “He is happy now, he was a gentle giant and will be sorely missed”.
Inurnment will be held at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL.
