Candace was born to George T. Jones and Shirley Jones McClure in Topeka, KS. She graduated from Topeka West High School in 1963 and attended Washburn University in Topeka and the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. She was a lifelong KU fan, particularly of their basketball team.
Candace is survived by her daughter Betsey Reed and son-in-law Nigel; brothers G. Timothy Jones and Matthew McClure; step-brothers David Edge, John McClure, and Henry McClure; grandson John Reed; and six nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-parents Robert A. McClure and Theresa A. Jones; step-brother Robert McClure; and step-sister Alison McClure Bean. She loved her family very much.
Candace was known for her fondness for flowers, gardening, birds, and sports. She was a devoted daughter, sister, and mother. She flew as a stewardess for Frontier Airlines in the 1960’s. Before and after moving to Dallas in 1981, Candace worked in account management and customer service for various telecommunications companies including Southwestern Bell, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
A memorial service will be held at Lakeland Hills Independent Living, 3305 Dilido Rd., Dallas, TX 75228 on Saturday May 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service in Topeka will be scheduled at a later date.
