Jan 10, 1922 – August 31, 2010
Patricia Cecilia Davies Peabody, born Jan. 10, 1922 in Alhambra, Calif. To Frank and Nora Davies, passed away on August 31, 2010 in Sacramento, Calif. She was surrounded by her loving family with whom she had the fortune of being able to communicate with until her final moments. Patricia grew up with her parents in Alhambra, California, where she attended All Souls Parochial School and graduated from Ramona Convent in 1940. After high school, she attended adult night classes in Comptometry. Patricia spent her time working for the Christopher Candy Company as a candy packer; the May Company as a file clerk; and the Sunshine Curtain Company as a curtain folder. On June 13, 1942, Patricia married the love of her life, George W. Peabody. George served in WWII, and returned home from Iwo Jima wounded and paralyzed. Patricia cared for George, keeping him ambulatory and employable with the support of the Veteran’s Administration. George and Patricia had 4 sons together, and enjoyed a wonderful 68 years of marriage. Throughout Patricia’s life, she served her family and her community in the PTA, the 4-H club, Election Board Officer, church pianist, and the U.S.M.C.R. Women’s Auxilliary. She had a full and devoted life, complete with playing piano and guitar, dancing (ballroom, flamenco, Hawaiian and belly), sewing, and wildflower identification. She became a minister elect for St. Patrick Church in 1981 and was the winner of the second annual coveted “Golden Baton” award at the Butterfly Concert in 1986.
Patricia was so loved and cherished by her surviving husband George and will be certainly missed by all who knew her.
