Marcella J. Crow

Marcella Crow, 82, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2011, at Marshall Hospital in Placerville. Born in Sacramento, CA, on May 19, 1928, she was the daughter of Ralph and Oralea Hamrick Silva, who also lived much of their married years in Placerville.

Marcella married her high school sweetheart, Bill Crow, on April 20, 1947, and they were married for 63 years. She was a long time Placerville resident with exception of living several years in Vacaville, CA, while Bill was in the Air Force. They shared many adventures and travels together and often landed in areas with warm, sandy beaches and ocean breezes. She was the proud mother of Candy Carruth (Otto), Susie Crow, Kathie Maxey (John) and Christy Hunt (Charles). She was grandmother to Vanessa, Andrew, Kelly, Madison and Mason. She was great grandmother to Paige, Julia, Vincent and Taylor and she also had several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her only brother, Allan Silva, of Colton OR.

She worked for the El Dorado County Assessor’s Office and Ponderosa High School (Assnt. Librarian). She was active in the Hangtown Women’s Tennis Club and the Federated Women’s Church Circle and volunteered for the El Dorado County Juvenile Hall and CASA. She was a frequent attendee of the Placerville Federated Church. She also followed Bill in his love for Dixieland Music and Bill’s many playing gigs all over California.

Marcella was a compassionate, fun-loving, nurturing, comforting and very special lady and will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at the Federated Church at 1031 Thompson Way in Placerville, on Friday, February 4 at 1:00 PM.
