Jack Wilkes, 91, of Placerville, with family at his bedside, passed away Tuesday evening, April 10, 2012. He died of natural causes. Jack was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, but grew up in Detroit, MI. Jack was a distinguished P-38 Fighter Pilot during WWII. After the war, Jack and his bride moved to Southern California, where they raised their family. Jack had a career in Accounting until he retired in 1980, and they moved to Placerville.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Mabel and daughter Kathleen Ann.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kay; their children, Joanne Dunbabin (Brian), Mike, Marne Mertens (Don), and Gary Wilkes (Christina); 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service is planned at Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., in Placerville on Saturday, April 21 at 1:00 PM.
