Jamie’s grade school years were spent in Los Angeles, California. In 1968, Jamie went from a big city girl to small town girl, moving from Los Angeles, California to live on a farm with her Uncle Dean, Aunt Bert and family in Aline, Oklahoma. Looking back, Jamie said the three years spent in Aline were best years of her life; the years where she learned about the love of family and God. Jamie embraced the country life, and recently recounted some near ditch incidents while driving the tractor and shared stories of her love of riding the family horse, Shawn. Jamie’s Facebook page lists Aline as her hometown.
Jamie attended High School in Aline, Oklahoma and was a 1975 graduate of Herbert Hoover High in Glendale, California. Following High School, Jamie, took some college classes at Oklahoma State University before joining the US Navy in 1977. Jamie received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy that same year for medical reasons. In 1978, she moved to Dallas, Texas to train as a flight attendant for American Airlines. She retired in 2008, having spent 30 years flying across the globe! During and after her employment with American Airlines, Jamie worked as a Public Safety Dispatcher for the Bridgeport Texas PD, the Lakeworth Texas PD and the Roanoke Texas PD. In or around 2010, Jamie moved back to California. She spent several years in Boulder Creek, California, and in 2019 moved to Placerville, California.
In December of 2016, Jamie was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. The doctor told her that without treatment, she would have only 6 months to a year to live. Jamie fought valiantly over the past 7 years, trying both traditional and experimental protocols of chemotherapy and radiation. Through it all, Jamie remained strong with a great will to live. In her last days, Jamie knew that she had done everything possible to fight the disease. On June 20, she passed peacefully in her sleep, with family members nearby. Throughout her illness Jamie was comforted by “Sister,” her faithful cat of 15 years. On Jamie’s last day and night, “Sister” never left her side.
Jamie was preceded in death by her father, James William Reynolds of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her mother, Nancy Joanne Brock of Scotts Valley, California and a sister, Kimmy Reynolds. She is survived by a sister, Victoria Conroy of Danville, California.
At a later date, the family will hold a private celebration of Jamie’s life and will honor her request that her ashes be spread across the family farm in Aline, Oklahoma.
Memorials in Jamie’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
