Bonnie was born on May 10,1942 in Great Falls, MT where she was raised with her brother, Bruce. Their parents Charles and Bertha raised them to love camping fishing and hunting. Their childhood was filled with adventures that Bonnie would recreate with her own children Christina and Tyler, while raising them in various places in Montana and Wyoming.
Bonnie was a bookkeeper most of her life and held various jobs throughout her life. The last job she held was with her dear friend Patty, working in the office laughing and joking together while doing the bookkeeping at Sweetie Pies in Placerville.
Her most adventurous time of her life was with her husband, Larry Johnson, when they came to California in 1982 to operate a placer gold mine in Weaverville, CA. There they met their lifelong friends, Ron and Patty Clark. From Weaverville, the four of them, with their four children, moved to San Luis Obispo for about two years, finally settling in El Dorado County.
Larry passed away in 2001, and Bonnie’s daughter, Christina passed away in 2005, leaving Bonnie to raise her beloved grandson, Leo. Bonnie has passed on her love of fishing and camping to Leo through her many camping and fishing trips from here to Montana. Bonnie loved the Pacific Ocean and particularly Morro Bay and Bodega Bay, where she and Patty took Leo to learn to ocean fish. Many trips were taken with April, Ashley and Jess Ann where they also fell in love with the ocean. Her favorite thing to do at the ocean was look for the whales and on her last trip to the ocean she and Leo were blessed to see a whale at Wrights Beach.
Bonnie’s last days were spent in her home in Pilot Hill that Larry remodeled for her surrounded by the flowers in her garden, which was one of her favorite hobbies, her beautiful fishpond which Leo had built for her, watching the many birds that bathed in the riverbed. She and Patty spent many hours sitting on the front porch enjoying the beautiful weather waiting for the flowers to bloom and the baby turkeys to hatch.
Bonnie was a longtime member of Mother Lode Church in Coloma and has many friends there. Bonnie also loved playing dominoes with her domino group of ladies. She played with her group from Sacramento to Yuba City and they recently came to her home in Pilot Hill as Bonnie’s health left her unable to travel, which she greatly appreciated.
Bonnie is survived by her beloved grandson Leo Stewart, his fiancé Mal, their girls Remi and Maeli of Pilot Hill, her brother Bruce Burnett of Phillipsburg, MT, her nephews Chad Burnett and Chuck Burnett of Missoula MT. Also surviving Bonnie is her daughter-in-law April Conway of Salt Lake City, UT, her granddaughters, Ashley Conway and Jess Ann Conway, Ponca City, OK. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Odin of Ponca City, OK. She also leaves behind her heart sister, Patty Clark and her husband, Ron, along with Patty’s family, which Bonnie and Leo are members of, along with April, Ashley and Jess Ann. Tyler Conway also survives her.
