In his youth, Vince played the trumpet and ran track, graduating from Struthers High School in 1952. He began his career designing fire sprinkler systems with Automatic Sprinkler and later cofounded Fire Protection, Inc. in 1978. As a Professional Engineer, he specialized in designing fire sprinkler systems for challenging hazards such as coal mines, chemical plants, and helipads.
Vince was a lifetime member of the Roman Catholic Church and cherished his close relationship with God and the community of the church.
Vince was a sports fan of the Steelers, Penguins, and Pitt Panthers. He also loved to travel to new places and had a great appreciation for music of all kinds from Louis Armstrong to the River City Brass Band and was a great dancer. He enjoyed working with his clients and spending time with his family and spoke to his sister, Josephine, daily. Vince’s family was one of the biggest sources of joy in his life.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Veltre and Ida Librizzi, brother, Lewis Veltre and his daughter, Jeanne Weideman.
Vince is survived by his wife, Nancy (Skinner) Veltre, sister, Josephine (Veltre) Shasho, and his children, Jim Weideman, Mary Ann (Don) Cadick, John (Caroline) Veltre, Jim (Phil) Lane, Jeff Lane, and Kris (Eric) Gartley. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Richard's Roman Catholic church in Gibsonia on Saturday January 7, 2023 at 9:30am with entombment occurring immediately after at Holy Savior Cemetery with a luncheon to follow.
