He was born in Florence, Kentucky to the late Gerald and Beverly Gibson on December 25, 1970. Monty met his wife, Stacey, while working with his dad at Turner’s Construction. He was at the site of the company Stacey was going to be working for in the future. A few of his buddies dared him to ask her out and they have been inseparable since. Together, they had two children, who both inherited his wonderful humor (to use against him at times): Katy and Kody.
Monty enjoyed spending time with his two Grand-dogs, Boone and Willow (aka Devil Dog). Even though these dogs would relentlessly get on his nerves with their weird behaviors, he adored them endlessly and would always volunteer to walk them around the neighborhood.
Monty graduated from Boone County High School in 1988 and went to Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. He was an estimator for over 30 years and was currently employed at Schlaegle Design Build Associates, Inc.
Monty always loved socializing with the neighborhood. He enjoyed it so much there was no room in the garage for the cars due to it being used for seating for neighborhood get togethers and Kody’s tools.
He was the neighborhood grill master ready to smoke or grill a new dish. Monty always had a project to work on whether it was cutting other people’s grass, putting up a birdhouse for his wife, remodeling the house, or catching the local rodents. Monty enjoyed going to find old treasures at local estate sales with his wife. He always looked forward to gaining new knowledge on the items they found and sharing it with others.
He will be sorely missed and survived by his loving wife Stacey Gibson, his children Katy Gibson (fiancé Alex Malone) and Kody Gibson (Autumn Deasey), sister Monica (Jimmy) Black and their children Austin and Scarlett, sister and brother-in-law Mandy (Chris) Burgei and their children Emmy, Owen, and Preston, his Uncle Phil, and his cousins. He will also be missed by his father-in-law Robert Bradford, mother-in-law Dixie Bradford, sister-in-law Sheila (Jeff) Gombita and his nephew Brett, and his brother-in-law Scott (Trudy) Bradford and his nephew Josh.
Friends are welcomed at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Hwy Pittsburgh PA 15237 412-364-4444 on November 27, 2021 from 11AM to 3PM. A celebration of life will take place at 3PM at the funeral home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Warrior Bags. Monty’s parents, Gerald and Beverly, both passed away from cancer in 2018. It would mean so much to Monty to have donations go towards cancer patients. The Warriors Bags is a small Christian based non-profit organization that provides cancer patients with care packages to help them in their fight. When you donate, please leave the comment “In honor of Monty Gibson” so the Gibson family can thank those who donated. You can make your donations online to https://warriorbags.org/elementor-541/ or mail Warrior Bags a check. Your checks should be made out to Warrior Bags and mailed to P.O. Box 93, Seymour, Indiana 47274.
