A beloved teacher and coach in the West Bloomfield School District for many years, he taught 2nd grade at Scotch Elementary School and then American History at Abbott Middle School before retiring.
His love of sports remained with him throughout his lifetime. Marvin played baseball while a student at Oakland University. He was perhaps the most devoted U of M fan, having held season tickets for many years. After moving to Pittsburgh with Nancy, to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren, he also became a fan of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. You could always find him in front of the TV watching whatever sports game that happened to be on at the time.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife Nancy; his daughter Kaylee (Justin) Horvat; his grandchildren: Lucy and Trudy; and his sister Sue (John) Katrich, as well as nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his son Joel.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Rd., Highland, MI 48356. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia.
