I live in Lehigh Valley PA and at our community Memorial Day event each participant was given a soldier to run in memory of... my daughter Emma ran in honor of Joseph. We were encouraged to look up our soldier and learn a little bit about them so that we can be sure they will not be forgotten.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  It was an honor to have met and served with Joe and for him to allow me to meet my husband.  He was the brother my husband never had.  He is sorely missed by his friends he has met in the Marine Corps.  We will never forget Joe.

To the family of Sgt. Caskey - My prayer is that the following poem I wrote for those who died in the line of duty will bring you comfort. It is: FALLEN HEROES 
From the time I was conceived God had for me a plan - He wanted me to get involved to help my fellow man - I know some were against it but God knows what is best - Since the day He took me home I've had perfect rest - Heaven is so beautiful I'm walking streets of gold - Now I'm serving others including saints of old - I know some still have anger about the way I died but God and I both have seen the many tears you've cried - He is a God of comfort - His love will never cease - Give your feelings to Him and He will give you peace - As difficult as I know it is please don't hold a grudge - Remember this my loved ones God alone will judge - Then on that resurrection day when all the dead will rise - The Lord will reunite us together in the skies - So don't give up my friends - My memory is still alive - Put your trust in the Lord and I know you will survive.

You have lost your beautiful son and no one can heal your pain.  Please know there are many who feel a huge debt to him, to his family and to all of our soldiers who believe in something larger than themselves. They paid the ultimate price for our freedom and there is no way we can come close to thanking them. There is a special place in heaven for soldiers. God bless you all.

A true hero. Thank you for your sacrifice on my behalf. It is a huge debt to pay, but I will do my best by never forgetting, honoring our military, and thanking them every chance I get.

Words cannot express the grief we feel, Joe.  What a blessing the time God gave us with you was.  You were fond of the book, "My Men Are My Heroes", but I would say, "My Brothers Are My Heroes."  We love you, little brother.  We will do our best to take care of Mom and Dad, until we meet again.

My husband, Cpl Juan Klinehoffer had the honor and privilege to serve with Joe in Iraq in 2008. I didn't know Joe until his return, but I got to know him quite well in the time that he was here in North Carolina until his move to California. He was a very fun loving, spirited guy who was a pleasure to be around. We had a blast in the short time we were together, and both Juan and I missed him when he left for Cali. Our hearts and prayers are with you all. May God comfort you, and keep you in his healing hands in your time of need.
