❤️ John B. Mallon III came into our lives when he was just three years old and I was five. We were instant siblings, long before our parents made it official. I loved him from the very the moment that I saw him. I remember that moment as if it had happened yesterday. We were standing underneath the weeping willow tree in our yard when he walked over, and we took to teaching him how to swing from the branches like Tarzan. The bond between us ran as deep as blood. He looked just like he did in this photo on the day Aaron and I met him, same shoes, same overalls, same cuteness. This photo might even have been from the day we meet. I keep this photo on my refrigerator because it makes me smile and reminds me of better days. 


I knew John through the peer program. He was always a pleasant and kind person. He had a sense of humor. I remember him telling a joke at one of our meetings that had everybody laughing. The Pennsylvania state ombudsman was at that meeting and met John there. John will be sincerely missed.

We remember John when he played soccer on community teams  along with his grade school friends. 
God be with John 's family as John moves to sit at the Lord's table.

I was employed at Manor Care for a few years where i had the pleasure of talking with John frequently.  John was such a calm, caring guy.  I also know how John just loved all animals.   I will always remember that about him. 
Rest in everlasting lasting peace, my ole' friend.  

Until a year and a half ago, North Hills Manor Care was one of the health care homes where I served as chaplain for the Diocese of Pittsburgh.  I celebrated Mass and then made rounds to see the residents and offer them Holy Communion.  
John never wanted to miss a Mass or a visit to talk about life and to receive Jesus in Holy Communion.  In warm weather, I would look for him and other residents outside enjoying the sunshine and warm air.  
He struggled with health issues, but this never kept him from being determined to move forward.  That fighting spirit was good for me and all of us to see.

God bless all of you, family and friends of John.  

May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.   Amen.

Last August Pam and I and our whole family had dinner at Aviva's in Warrendale with John and April. John arranged to get the great clubhouse at his place at 430 Ascent.  We kept the party going there into the night.  here's John at the head of the table that night.  Great Memory!
