Jane Evans Jubb, 93, passed away peacefully in her home on November 20, 2023 in Pittsburgh. She was born to the late David H. and Alice (Edgar) Evans on October 10, 1930. In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Richard “Dick” Jubb; and her brother, David H. Evans.
Jane grew up in Pittsburgh and bravely left home at eighteen to get her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona, where she founded and became president of the Women’s Athletic Association. She then went on to get her Master of Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh. In May of 1954, she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Jubb and together they raised their two daughters, Nancy and Betsy.
Jane proudly served a 38-year career with Northland Public Library, where she worked in the Reference Department, helping people find answers to all of their questions. She was a lover of books of all kinds, but her favorites to read were British mysteries. Jane also had a lifelong passion for fitness, even exercising with her trainer, Mary, up until the week before her passing! She was the undefeated ping pong champion of the family, starting in her college days and continuing well into her eighties.
Jane’s generosity shone through in her knitting skills, making Christmas stockings for new and old family members, as well as scarves for those in need. It was her giving spirit that also led her to spoil her grand-dogs rotten over the years. Jane will be remembered for her contagious laughter, her love of slapstick comedy, her love for animals, and of course, being the best mom.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Nancy Jubb (Daphna Bajayo) and Betsy Jubb (Scott Belmont); and her nephew, Fred Graff (Sue).
Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 from 1pm-4pm at Heritage Presbyterian Church (in the Fellowship Room), 2262 Rochester Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
