Edward Joseph "Sonny" Femc Sr., age 95, of Ross Township, formerly of Spring Hill, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Sonny was born February 25, 1929. He was the oldest male, born to the late Ignatius and Francis (Mauer) Femc. He was married to his best friend and soulmate the late Madeline (Keefer) for 71 wonderful years. Together they raised their only child, their adoring son Edward (Donna) Femc Jr.
Sonny was a hard worker, he was employed by Ralph J. Meyer as a roofer and sheet metal worker. His agility and no fear of heights would often find him working on the tallest buildings, including the Steel building and many church steeples. After his retirement Sonny kept himself busy by working around his house and keeping an impeccable yard. He was always available to help anyone, at any time.
Sonny was a man of few words, his quiet wisdom was an inspiration to many. He had a strong sense for family and always made family a priority. Sonny will be remembered as a loving father, and exceptional role model to his grandchildren; Jaime (Femc) Messina and Jason Femc. And a one of a kind "Morepap" to his great grandchildren; Haylie, Cody, and Jacob. He is also survived by one sister; Antoinette Yanick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 9 of his brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4-8pm at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA, 15237. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, with prayers at the funeral home at 10am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at St. Teresa of Avila Church. Entombment will follow at Christ our Redeemer Cemetery.
