Barbara L. Duffy

Barbara L. (Hill) Duffy, age 97 of Allison Park, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Vincentian Home. She was born in Beverly, MA, the daughter of the late Mabel (McClellan) and Henry Hill. Barbara served her country honorably as an Army Nurse in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. There she met her late husband, Fred G. Duffy, Jr., and the couple spent 58 wonderful years together. She was the beloved mother of Fred G. Duffy, III and his wife Lee of Harrisburg, PA; sister of the late Paul M. Hill and Virginia (Hill) Langley; cherished aunt of Barbara (Hill) Putney and her husband Brock, Paul D. Hill and his wife Carole, Pam Langley, Paul Langley and his wife Becky, Robert Langley and the late Joanne Hill. Following World War II, life brought residence in numerous places, eleven locations in fourteen years. A few examples of places they called home were San Juan, P.R., the Dominican Republic, Caracas Venezuela, Chicago, Il, New Orleans, LA, and Abilene, TX. Her husband's work with Alcoa took them to numerous destinations. Pittsburgh became the final stop where she enjoyed a long fulfilling life and many friends. Being a nurse, she had a passion of caring for people. This was evident to most that knew her, especially her daughter-in-law! With respect to Barbara's wishes, there will be no visitation. Private family burial will take place in Beverly, MA, where she will again be joined with her late husband. Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service being held here in Pittsburgh on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 2 PM in her church, North Park Baptist Church, 1600 Sample Road, Allison Park, PA 15101. Her son and daughter-in-law will be receiving friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.P.
