John Daniels, 70, of Pineville went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his residence. He was born August 2, 1946 to the late Dilmer T. and Laurabelle Daniels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Steven Daniels and a sister, Dilmeda Carter Weston. He was a 1964 graduate of Pineville High School where he was a member of the marching band. He was a former member of the Pineville Fire Department and was a paper carrier for the former Beckley Post Herald. He retired from the Wyoming County Magistrate position after 28 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Germany for part of this enlistment. He enjoyed golfing, spending time on his front porch, and spending time with his family and grandkids. Survivors include his wife of 47 years Marlene Daniels of Pineville; a daughter Tara Daniels Barnett and her husband, Scott of Mount Sterling, KY; a brother, Tommy Daniels and his wife, Lynell of Pineville; two grandkids, Meyrick and Jennilee Barnett of Mount Sterling, KY and other nieces, nephews, family and friends. A celebration of John’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2016 in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Norman Gray and Rev. Steve Acord officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2016 Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
