Known to many as "Mama Grace" a nickname given to her by former Mayor Carlos Garcia. Grace and her late husband, Ralph Rodriguez bought their home in Pico Rivera in 1957. They were given the key to their home on the same date their first child was born. She was retired after 28 years from the El Rancho Unified School District. Active in many organizations; Sister City, Optimist, Pio Pico Woman's club, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she was a CCD Teacher and served as President in the Alter Society, Rosary. Guadalupanas, assisting with the annual church Fiesta, co-founders of "Navidad in Baja", Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 6315, founded a reading program to assist Spanish speaking children and their parents to better understand the education process, was on Scholarship committees from various organizations for El Rancho High School and Ruben Salazar. Grace became politically involved with local and State politics, the first being the campaigns for the late Robert Kennedy, former President Bill Clinton and the 2008 and 2012 campaigns for former President Molina, in local Pico Rivera City council and El Rancho Unified school District Board members. Her greatest joy was raising her children, Grace Helen Rodriguez, ( Kent D. Sprague) Evangeline Rodriguez, Ralph F. Rodriguez ( Julie Salas Rodriguez), Monica Marie Contreras (Michael). She adored her five granddaughters; Jessica, Justine, Rebekah, Roxanne, and Moriah Raquelle, and always taught them the importance of knowledge through reading.
She had the pleasure of meeting her first great-granddaughter, Charlie Quinn Cervantes, and recently was so thankful to a photo session that took place at her home where she met for the first time, her second great-granddaughter, Amora Michelle Cervantes. Grace was given another nick name by her son. "MOSA", short for the word "Hermosa."
