Pickens – Reverend William David Roper, 75, husband of Diana Hendricks Roper, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Reverend Roper was born in Pickens County, son of the late David Frank and Mildred Holder Roper. He was retired from Durham’s Hardwood as a truck driver. He was also a Church of God minister having served Walhalla Church of God #2, Pickens Church of God, Dacusville Church of God, Six Mile Church of God, Salem Church of God, Cross Roads Church of God in Campobello, and Glassy Mountain Church of God in Greenville County and Joy Valley Church. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Diana Roper of the home, his daughter, Deborah Roper Underwood (Derrick Hallums) of Greenville, his sons, John D. Roper and Robert Allen Roper both of Pickens and his grandchildren, Tyler Underwood (Kayla), Carly Underwood (fiancée Jacob Davidson), Sarah Underwood, Erin Underwood, Corey Roper and Dawson Roper and his great grandson, Caden Underwood. The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2:30 to 3:45 PM with funeral services following in the funeral home chapel at 4 PM.
