Reverend Paul Leonard Stephens, 88, of Pickens, met his Heavenly Father on Saturday 19, 2020, departing this earthly life from Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, SC. Born on October 28, 1931, in Pickens County, the son of the late Norton B. Stephens and Pearl Durham Stephens.
Reverend Paul pastored Jones Hill Church of God in Marietta, SC for twenty-five years. During his Christian ministry, he led over five hundred people to salvation in Jesus Christ. He served as chaplain at Pickens County Prison Ministry and Countryside Village Retirement Home in Easley, SC. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a driver and personal assistant to the base commander.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline Stephens; one daughter Sandra Priddy (Jimmy) and their daughter, Summer Chandler (Addison); two sisters, Lila Galloway and Nell Knight (Frank) and many loving nieces and nephews. Reverend Paul was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Roach Stephens and two sisters, Flora Durham and Alma Chastain.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday September 22, 2020 from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Gap Hill Church of God. A celebration of life will follow at 3 p.m. at the church, with a committal service to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Covid-19 procedures and regulations will be followed (social distancing and masks).
